Wonder of Autumn celebrations at RHS Garden Rosemoor: 27 September - 19 October 

RHS Garden Rosemoor hosts a four-week celebration of seasonal colour and all things arboreal. Enjoy the beautiful grounds before heading inside for an autumn dishes including garden harvest soup with an apple and smoked cheddar sandwich and pumpkin and feta pinwheels. Follow with a Kabocha cheesecake choux, pear frangipane, lamington, mocha shot glass and a freshly made scone with blackberry curd. 

COMEDY

Nick Helm: 27 September

Head to Barnfield Theatre for a night of comedy from Nick Helm, as seen in Uncle, Nick Helm’s Heavy Entertainment, Live at the Apollo and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. 7.45pm start.

Kid Carpet - Super Mega Rockin' Rock Show: 27 September

A much-loved pioneer of catchy, lo-fi electro-pop music, Kid Carpet makes children's work with a punk DIY attitude at its heart. This lively, interactive and entertaining show from Theatre Alibi contains a unique mix of live music, performance, comedy, animation and ping pong balls. 11am-2pm at Emmanuel Hall. Suitable for ages 3+.

FESTIVAL

Hell Tor Festival: 26-28 September

Head to Exeter Phoenix to celebrate Devon’s heritage of horrors with a weekend of films, talks and special guests. The programme includes Lee Rawlings exploring the ghost stories of M.R. James, a special event on The Woman in Black with Pauline Moran, and Mark Norman delving into the paranormal world of Screaming Skulls. Caroline Munro returns for an in-conversation hosted by Jonathan Rigby, while illustrator Graham Humphreys discusses creating posters for The Evil Dead, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Inside No 9. The festival also welcomes Stephen Volk (Ghostwatch, Afterlife), who will reflect on the “ghosts of his life.”

Sacred Earth Exhibtion: On now until 24 October 

Sacred Earth is a mixed exhibition showing at The Brownston Gallery in Modbury. Expect a varied and colourful collection of works celebrating the natural world. Featuring trees and flowers, insects and birds, the coastline and countryside, this exhibition brings together a diverse group of artists, each sharing a unique perspective on their surrounding environment.
